Very convenient December 19, 2014
Reviewer: Jeff Dils from Chelsea, MI United States
I am enjoying the freedom of getting the guide on the TV, selecting shows to record by selecting the program name or searching for the name. I am also happy the option to record new programs only was added, since reviews had said this was a drawback.
My suggestions for improvements would be to allow two zip code to pull guide data from as my antenna pulls from two directions but the guide only pulls from the one I set (I am connected to the internet). Also it would be nice to have more control on recording shows like late night talk shows that are on every night. I would like to be able to only record Thursdays and Fridays, if I want.
All in all though, I am very happy and this was a huge improvement from my previous recorder that was based on time and channel.

dvr poor design December 19, 2014

I returned the 16gb dvr after a few days use. I use an inside antenna and this dvr requires you to make about 10 entries on the remote to see the signal strength for each channel. The signal strength indicator should showup when you press display or guide. Also i never found any picture adjustments like color, contrast, etc. An antenna out is also needed.

Great Device December 18, 2014
Reviewer: PacificBillo from Encinitas, CA United States
I purchased the DVR+ at the Cyber Monday sale. It arrived promptly and in perfect condition three days later.

I’ve been using it continuously for two weeks now and it has performed flawlessly.

Setup was a snap. I attached a hard Internet connection and a Seagate Expansion 1TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0. The setup wizard had me up and running in a minute or so. A channel scan and removal of the junk stations left me a nice, clean guide in another few minutes.

I connected video directly to the TV via HDMI, while audio went to a receiver via a Toslink optical cable (had to get a Toslink Mini Adapter for $3). A setting in the DVR+ lets the receiver decode the signal for full 5.1.

So far, I couldn’t ask for anything more from this elegant, compact device. It was a very happy day when I dropped off my 90’s-designed, humongous, terribly-performing DVR box at the Cox Cable store.

We love our DVR+ December 18, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Tulsa, OK United States
This unit has been great so far, with the exception of the wifi adapter. (See separate review.)

Channelmaster was very smart designing the DVR+ to work with an external USB drive. The most likely point of failure is the drive, and if it ever fails, just plug in another!

The unit works as advertised, with the ability to record two shows while playing back a third.

I would definitely recommend the DVR+ for anyone with an OTA setup!
