Best choice out there, but needs guide options. January 31, 2015
Reviewer: JP from Modesto, CA United States
I have 3 units, 2032 batteries for the remote ?? AA or AAA batteries  and the remote should be back-lit, seeing it is 2015, the remote, but it is reliable.
DVR's are not new and having the option of a custom guide as well as a guide showing all channels is to be expected and I hope a firmware update corrects that as well as recording options such as saving a max of 1,2,5,10, or all of a certain program. This still, this appears to be the best DVR for no monthly charge, which should be expected. Tivo and others should just raise their price of the unit and make it free after that. People who go this direction are looking to get away from being price gouged on a monthly basis and manufacturers of OTA DVR's should get that.

DVR works just as described January 30, 2015

Easy to set up with cable and Ethernet connection.  Found channels from our antenna and guide for our area.  Very easy to use, lots of storage using an external USB disk drive.  Auto configured the external drive.  Most menus are organized well and intuitive.  Few menus require extra confirmation to continue.  No issues with recording or play back,  Picture is always excellent HD resolution.  Netflix is not available on this device.

Remote control is a joke.  I threw this model into a junk pile as I found it useless.

DVR+ January 30, 2015
Reviewer: Brook Lindbert from Leland, NC United States
As a long time user of the CM7000PAL, I had hoped that the DVR+ would have corrected the few problems I was having like holding the time signal and a larger HDD.  Unfortunately, there are other issues that surpass these to previous shortcomings that were addressed.  If the channel doesn't have a program output, the DVR+ just shows a long stretch of no information that is not broken up into hour segments.  This makes future recording more difficult.  I tried to update the software, by using a USB drive, but the system would not recognize this entry method.  Your choices are wired and wireless, and not the USB method, so go figure why they even mention this method. I do like the trancparency feature when on Guide.  This allow you to continue watching while searching.  The most used buttons on the remote are located in the most difficult position on the bottom of the remote, thus making it difficult to handle for balance reasons.
